Old Brass Font Review

As a handmade seller who spends hours refining every detail of my shop listings, I always look for fonts that bring energy and personality to my designs. Old Brass is one of those fonts that instantly elevates a project with its bold, confident presence. It’s the kind of display font that feels like it belongs on a vintage racing badge or a retro sports logo—perfect for makers who want to make a statement without overcomplicating their design.

Old Brass for Bold Labels and Product Tags

Testing Old Brass on candle labels was an immediate win. The font’s sharp edges and strong character shapes stand out clearly, even when cut into vinyl or printed on small tags. I used it for a set of farmhouse-style labels, and the result was both eye-catching and professional. The font’s assertive style works well for short phrases like “Handmade with Love” or “Natural Soy Candle,” giving each label a sense of authenticity and craftsmanship.

When I tried it on product tags for a seasonal gift line, the font’s visual weight made the text pop against simple backgrounds. It pairs nicely with clean sans serif fonts for contrast, but even on its own, Old Brass adds a layer of sophistication that makes products feel more premium.

Old Brass for Greeting Cards and Wedding Stationery

Old Brass also shines on greeting cards, especially for events that have a sporty or adventurous vibe. I designed a set of birthday invitations using the font for the main title, and it gave the whole piece a dynamic feel. The font’s thick strokes and slightly rough texture add a tactile quality that feels handcrafted, which is exactly what I aim for in my printable stationery.

For wedding invitations, I found that Old Brass works best as a headline or accent text. It’s not ideal for long paragraphs, but as a decorative element, it adds a unique flair. I paired it with a simple serif font for the body text, and the combination felt balanced and elegant without being too busy.

Old Brass for Digital Printables and Shop Branding

As a printable creator, I often need fonts that work well in both digital and physical formats. Old Brass delivers on both fronts. When I used it for a set of printable wall art, the font’s boldness made the text legible from a distance, even at smaller sizes. It’s great for headlines, quotes, or motivational phrases that need to command attention.

I also tested it on shop branding elements like social media headers and listing images. The font’s high contrast and distinctive shape make it stand out in a crowded marketplace. It’s perfect for shops that want to build a strong visual identity with a touch of retro charm.

Old Brass for Tote Bags and Merchandise Design

Using Old Brass on tote bags and shirts was another highlight. I created a series of custom-designed tote bags with the font as the main text, and the results were impressive. The font’s thick strokes hold up well on fabric, and the design looks sharp whether printed or heat-transferred.

One thing to note is that for very small prints or intricate cuts, the font’s details can get lost. If you’re planning to use it on something like a tiny sticker or a detailed SVG cut, consider simplifying the design or using a version with fewer flourishes.

Old Brass for Packaging and Seasonal Crafts

Old Brass is a great choice for packaging design, especially for handmade items that benefit from a bit of visual punch. I used it on a set of holiday gift boxes, and the font added a festive yet sophisticated touch. It works well with rustic or industrial themes, making it versatile for different styles.

For seasonal crafts like Christmas tags or summer signs, the font’s boldness helps it stand out in a crowd. Whether you're creating printable templates or physical decorations, Old Brass brings a sense of energy and confidence that other display fonts might lack.
